On the peaks of the Alps, a deadly hunt for a beast of legend.

Isère, on the marches of France. A regiment of dragoons enters a seemingly deserted village to find several badly mangled bodies and evidence of an attack by a wild animal. Survivors speak of a massive beast with almost human eyes, of a werewolf ... The thing's trail leads over the border with the Duchy of Savoy, and the commander of the dragoons takes a small detachment, in civilian clothes, after it. With them is his cousin: Jean-Baptiste Poulain ...

Key Points:
  • Based on the legend of the ‘Marquis d’Anaon’, a popular tale from the 18th century
  • By the author of Alone and Green Manor
  • An uncompromising period saga that brings the France of the 1720s to life in a clear, uncluttered style.
Fabien Vehlmann proved his mettle with such hits as Green Manor and a Spirou one-off, before becoming in 2009 the new official team for Dupuis’ flagship series with Yoann. His series Alone (Seuls) with Bruno Gazzotti has garnered critical and popular acclaim and earned two Youth Awards at the Angoulême Festival, as well as two Grand Prix from Le Journal de Mickey. Matthieu Bonhomme has been an artist for Spirou magazine and several children books. He's worked with some big names such as Fabien Vehlmann and Lewis Trondheim, but also solo: his first book L’âge de la Raison received the 2003 Alph’Art award in Angoulême, and his series Le Voyage d’Esteban has been met with great success.
