Welsh description: Mae Tintin ar antur arall i'r Dwyrain Canol mewn stori sy'n dechrau'n ffrwydrol yng nghanol hinsawdd wleidyddol ymfflamychol y 1950au. Rhywsut rywffordd mae Tintin, Milyn, Parry-Williams a Williams-Parry yn aelodau o'r criw ar long y Speedol Star yn teithio tua'r dwyrain, ac yn cyrraedd porthladd Khemekho-Leone ym mrenhiniaeth Khemed.

Cyfoeth y frenhiniaeth yw'r aur du - y meysydd olew islaw twyni'r anialwch - ond mae'n frwydr am oruchafiaeth rhwng yr emir Ben Kalish Ezab a'r shîc Pahra Bhlu, ill dau yn hawlio rheolaeth dros y wlad. A rhwng y ddau saif un dihiryn sy'n ceisio manteisio ar y sefyllfa i'w ddibenion ei hun - dihiryn y mae Tintin wedi dod ar ei draws eisoes - ac yn ei feddiant y mae fformiwla cemegol ag iddo ganlyniadau digon tanllyd.

English translation:Tintin's adventures take him back to the Middle East, and an explosive start to the story amidst the burning political atmosphere of the 1950s. Somehow Tintin, Milyn, Parry-Williams and Williams-Parry have joined the crew of the Speedol Star tanker en route eastwards, docking at the port of Khemekho-Leone in the kingdom of Khemed.

The kingdom's wealth stems from black gold - the oilfields deep beneath the desert sands. However the kingdom is torn in a bitter struggle for supremacy between the emir Ben Kalish Ezab and the sheik Pahra Bhlu. Between both protagonists stands one crook - already known to Tintin - who's sole aim is to take advantage of the situation for his own ends. He possesses a chemical formula which has potentially inflammable consequences.
